Industrial Fan Silencers

Model IB For Fans With Inlet Boxes

A fan radiates noise equally through its inlet and its discharge. Usually either the inlet or outlet of the fan is connected to some sort of equipment which contains and/or absorbs the noise from that side of the fan. Normally only the inlet or discharge has to be silenced. One exception is that type of air conditioning systems in which both the inlet and the discharge are ducted into occupied spaces. In these installations silencers are often required on both the inlet and discharge sides of the fan.

For Large Fans, A Special IB Fan Silencer Should Be Used Since the cost of even a few decibels of noise reduction is high with large fans, it pays to tailor the silencer to the exact requirements of the fan, when the flow per silencer is over 100 CFM and under 200 CFM a IB silencer is ideal. Please forward the following information for this purpose direct, or give it to an Aeroacoustic sales representative.

    1. Fan size, RPM, pressure drop, wheel diameter, number of blades and BHP
    2. Inlet box for fan inlet size
    3. CFM and density of air
    4. Pressure drop allowance for silencer
    5. Acoustic criterion required
    6. Fan noise generation by octave band (from fan manufacturer).

The internal configuration of this model silencer is designed so that the silencer exit matches the fan inlet box thereby eliminating the need for a separate transition. Each silencer has a pressure drop of 1.00" of water at its rated flow. The silencer includes a galvanized mesh inlet screen, silencer section and a discharge flange drilled to match your inlet box.

Model DF Fan Discharge Silencers

We have designed a series of fan discharge silencers for use when the fan inlet is connected to the process and the discharge is to the atmosphere.

The pressure drop at the rated flow is 1.00" of water. This pressure drop has been corrected for the pressure recovery from the fan discharge velocity. A 50% diffusion efficiency is assumed for the transition from the fan to the silencer.

Model DF silencers can be supplied, at extra cost, with removable internals for cleaning. This is recommended when the silencer is used with dirty gasses.

The silencers are generally larger than the fan discharge requiring a transition from your fan discharge to our silencer. This transition can be ordered with the silencer.

Model CI Fan Inlet Silencers For Single Inlet Fans Without Inlet Boxes

The Aeroacoustic Model CI fan silencers are designed to bolt directly onto the fan inlet flange. The silencer includes a silencing element followed by a plenum section drilled out to your fans flange pattern. A removable plate is incorporated into the plenum section to allow access for installation of bolts. A galvanized mesh bird screen is standard on all inlet silencers.

Model SI with Rainhood and Inlet Cone

The Aeroacoustic Model SI fan silencers are designed to bolt directly onto the fan inlet flange. The silencer includes a silencing element followed by a plenum section drilled out to your fans flange pattern. A removable plate is incorporated into the plenum section to allow access for installation of bolts. A galvanized mesh bird screen is standard on all inlet silencers. Each silencer has a pressure drop of 1.00" of water at its rated flow. Model SI has a built-in, all metal, inlet.

Model TEFC Motor Silencers

The major noise generated in a totally enclosed, fan cooled motor is the cooling fan. The fan located in the bell on one end of the motor draws air in from the atmosphere and discharges it over the cooling fins on the motor. The standard Aeroacoustic "Silentflow" electric motor silencer, Model EM will reduce normal TEFC electric motor inlet noise to below 90 dBA at 5 feet.

Industrial Tubular Silencers

Aeroacoustic "Silentflow" Tubular Silencers are used where noise reduction is required, especially at low frequencies, combined with very low pressure drop. Tubular silencers can be supplied in standard connection sizes from 4" to 60". They come in four different series, the ST inlet and the ST outlet, the CB inlet and the CB outlet and the IC inlet and the AD outlet. Each series performs a specific purpose to zero in on your noise problem and at the same time to keep your cost down.

Vaneaxial Fan Silencers

The Aeroacoustic "Silentflow" vaneaxial fan silencers are acoustically and aerodynamically correct for reducing the noise emanating from the inlet and/or discharge of vaneaxial fans. These silencers are exactly tuned for the very specific noise characteristics of the vaneaxial fans. Over two years of Research and Development have gone into our proprietary fluid flow diffuser design. This new fluid diffuser design assures minimum flow resistance and maximum static pressure system regain.

Rainhoods For All Models of
Inlet And Discharge Silencers

The Aeroacoustic Corporation has designed rainhoods which will provide uniform flow at the silencer face thereby resulting in the minimum increase in pressure drop when used with an Aeroacoustic inlet fan silencer. Rainhoods for vertical installation will add 0.25 inches of H²O at the silencers rated flow. Horizontal rainhoods do not increase the the pressure drop.
